Building physical strength through Yoga
Saturday 9th September 2017, 10:30
Sheffield Hallam Active, S10 2BP
2.5 hours - £18
Yoga is often translated as ‘unity’, meaning mind and body. The fantastic part of yoga physical practice (asanas) is ‘body unity’, it’s hard to finely isolate body parts in yoga meaning we work everything. We all have weaker parts in our bodies which we don’t always dedicate enough time to. I love weight training but when it comes to full body dynamic power, harder forms of yoga is where it’s at. I’ve worked with some very strong people and there are always new ways to discover muscles and build greater strength.
In this workshop we will work on legs, core and upper body, looking at larger muscle groups and how they work together. Learning how to combine yoga poses and transitions with correct breathing you develop a strength quite different to what you’ll get from weights.
My workshops are normally quite challenging but good fun. It is open to all yoga levels and newbies but you should be active as my sessions are more physically demanding than some gentle forms of yoga.
